Through a mixture of social enrichment and cultural programs, the NY Irish Center (in Long Island City) actively supports an ever-changing Irish diaspora in New York. It is a beloved showcase for local talent in comedy, music, theater, film, books and literacy while also serving as a favorite gateway into the busy New York cultural scene for numerous performers from the island of Ireland.
Over 100 cultural programs are presented every year.
Among the highlights: the annual St Patrick’s Day 6-hour cultural marathon “40 Shades of Green;” the Queens Irish Heritage Festival; the traditional music series Blarney Star; the beloved Christmas concert, “NY Croons for Christmas,” and a Toy Drive with special appearances by a different celebrity Santa every year.
For its 20th anniversary season in 2024-25, the NY Irish Center presents an array of ambitious programming initiatives.
Among the highlights: the first Irish language film festival in the US; a Saturday Cartoon Series of international cartoons, and “Crossroads Concerts,” an exciting new world music series that blends Irish folk traditions with music from other cultures.
Media Blitz has served as the Center’s media relations and marketing counselor since 2022.
